Official Details For The 26th 007 Adventure Are Still Lacking: What Can We Expect from the Next 007 Bond Movie?

15 March 2024

Since Daniel Craig played James Bond for the final time in 2021’s No Time To Die, fans of the secret agent have been wondering when his next movie will be released. While official details on the 26th Bond film are still lacking, it’s worth looking at the many rumours that have been flying around.

The Plot and Setting

There are no details yet on what we can expect to see 007 getting up to in the movie that has a current working title of Bond 26.  It seems safe to assume that the next effort will follow many of the same ideas we’ve seen in the past, with previous movies showing Bond jetting around the world to foil villains in exotic locations. No Time To Die ended with Bond’s death, so it’s going to be interesting to see how this one solves that issue.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see 007 visit a casino, as he’s done in several movies, with Casino Royale and Diamonds Are Forever among them. While his trips to play card games or roulette seemed incredibly exotic in his early films, the presence of online casino offers for new customers means that many viewers are now familiar with these games. The latest promotions in this sector include free spins and bonus funds, allowing players to try several games. They include deals for live casino games and while it’s hard to imagine Bond playing online, this is the sort of modern twist fans could relate to.

Who Will Play 007?

The biggest question of all is around who will replace Craig in the title role. We’ve seen all sorts of rumours in the last few years, from the idea it could be the first woman playing Bond to there being two different 007s in the same movie. Names such as Tom Hiddleston and Tom Hardy are among the main actors mentioned for this role, but nothing’s been confirmed yet.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has mentioned that he’s met Barbara Broccoli to discuss playing 007, but it’s unclear how many other actors have also had this sort of meeting. The actor they choose will let us see what kind of direction the franchise will take now, as it’s still not clear if this will be a reboot with a younger actor or some sort of alternative timeline.

The Villain

Memorable villains have been one of the main attractions of Bond movies over the years. This list of the best bad guys starts with Blofeld, who was played by Christoph Waltz in the last couple of outings. Goldfinger and Le Chiffre are other great characters while Jaws was probably the most threatening henchman.

Plenty of renowned actors like Paul Giamatti and David Dastmalchian have thrown their hat into the ring but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a familiar face up against Bond in his next film. Scottish actor Brian Cox is playing a Bond-style villain in an Amazon Prime Video game show called 007’s Road to a Million, but we don’t yet know if he’ll be among the names when 007 casting begins.

There are still many blanks to fill in concerning Bond 26, so fans are going to have to be patient as they wait for any news to filter out.
