"lewd, crude, puerile and amazing for it..."

It’s hard to believe that Jackass has been around now since the year 2000, growing out of the writing talents of Big Brother magazine and the antics of CKY and becoming one of the most memorable, beloved, and often imitated but rarely replicated prank/stunt shows ever and to top it off its been approx. 12 years since the guys had a big screen outing and whilst that seems like a long time in some aspects it really feels like you’re watching a bunch of old friends getting together again…. Albeit with much more blood, vomit, semen and testicular fortitude than a normal reunion.

As a fan I grew up watching Jackass fondly, and as most idiot teenagers have likely done... attempting some of what I have seen whilst being told under no uncertain circumstances not to, this was pretty much a right of passage for anyone who was a teenager at the time.

If you’re familiar with the Jackass brand nothing should surprise you, however for the most part they have dialled up to 11 on all the stunts. They aren’t for the weak stomached or faint of heart. The majority of the cast return for this entry, Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius (and the sheer abuse of his penis), Jason “Wee Man” Acuna & Ehren McGhehey take centre stage and they also introduce a few new recruits and a bunch of celebrity friends who get in on the action as well.

Eric Andre and Machine Gun Kelly are particular highlights in this capacity. Personal note – It's worth the price of admission to see Machine Gun Kelly take a giant hand to the face any day. It wouldn’t be Jackass however without the mention of two if its alumni, Bam Margera & Ryan Dunn. Ryan as most will know passed away following a drink driving accident in 2011 which is even sadder when people find out that he had only recently gotten over severe depression caused by chronic pain due to a mishap on the 2nd Jackass movie.

Dunn’s death had a massive effect on Bam and he has struggled with substance abuse since. Needless to say however both are very much part of this movie in different ways, Bam whilst essentially fired is featured in at least one of the stunts and also archive footage. As the credits roll however we get a tribute to the late Ryan Dunne and it's amazing that despite hitting every disgusting note for the past 90ish minutes it's heart warming how much love these guys still have for their fallen brother.

It would also be remiss of me to not mention the absolutely fantastic opening segment which is probably the highest production value ever seen in a Jackass movie and apes the big budget Monster movies of recent times as well as giving it the trademark genital positive touch…

To summarise, Jackass forever is lewd, crude, puerile and amazing for it... and in a time when everything is perpetually serious its good to kick back and watch our favourite “trained professionals” (wink wink) do what they do best Rating 4/5 stars… & half a testicle
