SYNOPSIS

LA BOLA NEGRA. A sweeping, emotionally charged story of love, memory and inheritance spanning three generations, LA BOLA NEGRA is inspired by the unfinished final work of Federico García Lorca and the acclaimed play by Alberto Conejero, one of Spain’s foremost contemporary playwrights. Blending history, poetry and passionate romance, it is a visually ravishing, fearless exploration of queer identity and the lives erased by history – and those determined to reclaim them.

LA BOLA NEGRA tells the story of three men whose lives are intimately connected through desire, pain and inheritance, across three different eras – 1932, 1937 and 2017. Rich with Lorca’s poetry and suffused with desire, grief and hope, it is an intimate love story and a sweeping exploration of memory, inheritance and queer history, honouring those whose lives and loves were too often forced into silence.
