Cameron Spurr talks working with a stellar cast

Melancholia
30 September 2011

Justine (Kirsten Dunst) and Michael (Alexander Skarsgård) are celebrating their marriage at a sumptuous party in the home of her sister (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and brother-in-law (Kiefer Sutherland). Meanwhile, the planet, Melancholia, is heading towards Earth… MELANCHOLIA is a psychological disaster movie from director Lars von Trier.

The Fan Carpet were lucky enough to be in attendance at the UK premiere of Melancholia where we got to talk to Cameron Spurr, the young star who plays Leo in the film…

How did you get involved in the film?

Well there was a call that went to a sports place, and then my mum thought ok let’s try this out,  so I went to one audition and then two weeks later I got a call back. There were about three or four other boys there, when we got to the airport my mum got the call say we had got the part.

How was it working with such a stellar cast?

It was cool, they were very nice and I liked it.

Did they give you a lot of advice?

Yeah, Lars did mostly but the others kind of helped out too.

What will you be doing next?

I dunno. If I was going to do a film next, I would probably want to be in a kids film.
