"Everyone's favourite 'Friend' Lisa Kudrow, is great in her role of Karen, Will's quirky mother, and just reminds us why we love her so much in every scene she is in."

I hadn't heard much about this film on going into the screening, the premise of the film is not too different from other films in this genre, however, where Bandslam excels, is in the richness of the talent shown on screen and that the writer/director Todd Graff treats the characters with the respect they deserve.

Love her or hate her, Vanessa Hudgens shows she has real prowess as an entertainer, and that she can do more than the runaway success of High School Musical, here she is in a role that is very different to Gabriela, in Bandslam, she plays Sa5m, no that's not a typo, the 5 is silent (see the film you'll understand), it's a cute thing she does on meeting new boy in town Will Burton, played brilliantly by new comer Gaelan Connell. These two have terrific chemistry together, with roles that are easy to relate to.

Aly Michalka, one half of Pop/Rock sensation Aly & AJ plays Charlotte Banks, the cheerleader with heart,  who on meeting Will takes him under her wing and makes him the manager of the band she has assembled to rival that of her ex-boyfriend's band, Glory Dogs, she brightens up the screen, she is brilliant as well as somewhat cruel at times.

Everyone's favourite 'Friend' Lisa Kudrow, is great in her role of Karen, Will's quirky mother, and just reminds us why we love her so much in every scene she is in.

A running theme in the film is Wills love for music, shown with his writing to his hero David Bowie everyday, and capped by a visit to the iconic birthplace of punk CBGB's, a derelict underground club in the heart of Manhattan, so much music history, and a delight to both Will and Sa5m.

I loved what they did with the classic David Gates song 'Everything I Own' the latest incarnation of the song performed by Vanessa Hudgens, has a rockier, bouncier, edge to it.

Bandslam is a fun, lighthearted, family film, the cast are all brilliant and talented, and made this an enjoyable film.
