"rockin' all over the world with a difference"
Status Quo have been rocking all over the world for over fifty years now, and following the release of documentary Hello Quo last year, the boys are back, but this time with a difference, as Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt feature in their first big screen comedy.
Bula Quo! is a buddy movie which sees the notorious and loveable duo go on the run during a tour in Fiji, after witnessing a deadly game of Russian roulette perpetrated by the fantastically villainous Wilson (Jon Lovitz).
Taking place in the beautiful setting of Fiji, Bula Quo! boasts a clear, adventurous plot, and it is certainly a lot of good fun, however some of the dialogue leaves a lot to be desired, heading down some rather predictable paths.
Craig Fairbrass seems to excel at the tough guy roles, and his role of Simon - the hard as nails, rough and ready bodyguard who has been with the band for twenty years, proves time and time again that he can handle any situation; be it hand to hand or a gun battle. Meanwhile Laura Aikman is definitely one to watch as Caroline, who is the heartbeat of the film. Though to begin with she is somewhat unsure about the band, over the course of the film her empathy and fondness heightens towards them.
With memorable performances across the board, Bula Quo! is a lot of fun, set against beautiful landscapes with a fantastic soundtrack. If you intend to go to see this film, sit back and enjoy it for what it is.
