Drive Angry 3D is a high octane, balls out, typical revenge story, and it takes you on the ride from hell. We meet Milton who is portrayed effortlessly by Nicolas Cage, an anti-hero that has broken out of Hell in order to seek his revenge.

Cage is brilliant as Milton, and while a lot of his dialog and actions are cheesy it doesn't make the film any less enjoyable to watch. Similarly his leading Lady; Amber Heard is sassy and kicks butt, she exudes star prowess in every scene she is in.

William Fichtner shows up as The Accountant, who is seemingly pursuing Milton to take him back to Hell and the villain of the story is Jonah King; a cartoon villain of biblical proportions played terrifically by Billy Burke.

Although this film hasn't got the class or cinematic quality of a Tarantino film, it makes it clear from the beginning that Drive Angry isn't a film that takes itself too seriously, and so we get to enjoy it in all it's guilty pleasure perfection. At the end of the day Drive Angry is definitely more of a B film, made to look like a top notch action film, thanks to it's big budget and A lister star.

Thankfully the 3D isn't overused, which is a testament to the creative team and director Patrick Lussier who directed last years 3D re imagining of My Bloody Valentine.

I'm a big fan of Nicolas Cage and so I was really excited to see Drive Angry when I saw the trailer, it looked like a lot of fun and while they emphasized that it was shot in 3D, I think it would have been just as good if it wasn't 3D. It was clearly used as an unashamed gimmick, and why not, the bullets and blood, body parts and cars flying out of the screen, were used to great effect. Ultimately the film did exactly what it set out to do - to entertain, it does that and then some.
