"On its surface, Home is a dazzling, colourful feature that kids of all ages will enjoy"

The studio that brought us the beloved Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon franchises have gone intergalactic with their latest animated feature Home, starring the incredible Jim Parsons as the hapless Oh.

The casting of Parsons, best known for his role as Sheldon Cooper on the long running sit-com The Big Bang Theory is nothing short of genius, as he brings a sense of warmth and naivety to the young alien.

Oh is a member of an alien race known as The Boov and the story sees the purple aliens commandeer our planet in the hope of escaping the clutches of their mortal enemy, by relocating the Humans of Earth to a Deserted Planet. In the process of moving, Oh inadvertently sends an e-vite to the entire galaxy -- a move that could put the Boov, Humanity and Earth all in serious peril.

The support cast of Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and Steve Martin are excellent; Rihanna plays Tip, a street wise human that Oh befriends who longs to be reunited with her mother played by Jennifer Lopez. Comedy legend Steve Martin shines as the Boov leader Captain Smek, so all in all, the casting works really well.

On its surface, Home is a dazzling, colourful feature that kids of all ages will enjoy but at its heart, it’s a film about belonging and reuniting with the ones you love. In truth, Home is not to be missed, and further shows that DreamWorks Animation are a studio to pay attention to with the gems they produce.
