"her progression from fun and easy going to distracted, obsessive and paranoid was outstanding"

Cracks, an interesting story where a group of school girls that are sent to a private boarding school and after feeling isolated from their families they attempt to find love and compassion through one of their teachers. Eva Green portrays the teacher, Miss G who lives her life vicariously through books until she encounters a student that has adventures that surpasses the books that she has read. Green grows to adore this student that has come from Spain and quickly she becomes the teacher's pet.

Cracks is a dark and stirring film with fantastic performances from the younger talent. Juno Temple was particularly notable with her portrayal of the insecure and bitchy school girl. The film really reminded me of how horrible young girls can be to a disturbing degree.

Eva Green was very good but I can't but help but be annoyed by her English accent as I can tell she is French. However her progression from fun and easy going to distracted, obsessive and paranoid was outstanding. I particularly loved the scene of her as the nervous customer in the local shop exposing her insecurities and self-imposed exile from the rest of the world.

The setting was also beautiful as were the costumes. Definitely thought-provoking and disturbing. Uncomfortable at times but the fact it managed to gain such a reaction makes it highly noteworthy.
