"the perfect feel good film to watch with the whole family"

If you are in need of a feel good family film to enjoy during a hot summer afternoon, Harold and the Purple Crayon may just be the release you are looking for.

There is no better recipe than Zachary Levy teaming up with Zoey Deschanel to bring to life one of America’s most beloved children’s book, and this is precisely what happens in this purple coloured film.

Harold is happy and content with his two friends Moose and Porcupine; running around from adventure after adventure, inventing new objects with his magic purple crayon. The narrator of their story is a comforting father figure guiding them out of trouble.

But what happens when the Old Man stops telling your story?

In the quest to find the Old Man, Harold ends up bringing his magical crayon into the real world, along with his trusted sidekicks; Moose and Porcupine, the trio embark on the ultimate adventure, making new friends and enemies along the way.

Harold and the Purple Crayon is the perfect feel good film to watch with the whole family; children will be entertained by the silly jokes and a magical crayon capable of bringing their wildest fantasies alive.

Zachary Levy has that particular talent of letting his inner child run free and wild without seeming out of place. As an actor, he has kept his innocence alive and spark, making him the perfect Harold, a fictional pure character who doesn’t know evil, but has a really strong moral compass.

Tanya Reynolds (Porcupine) and Lil Rel Howery (Moose) are the perfect sidekicks to Levy, their characters are the ones who bring the comic relief and the silly jokes to the film, they transform to bring to life an animal like personality to portray Moose and Porcupine in the real world, creating absurd situations that are highly entertaining.

Of course, like any film aimed at children and adults alike, the moral of the story becomes immediately evident. Harold and the Purple Crayon finds a clever way to remind the audience that it is always important to believe in yourself no matter how hard life gets. The magic within every one of us is the spark to conquer everything. As a film it wants to remind people that it is important to not let life pass you by because as the Old Man (voiced by an amazing Alfred Molina) says “Life is not just something that happens to you..it’s something you create.”

If you are looking for a couple of hours away from the London Summer heat, Harold and the Purple Crayon is a nice escape from reality for children and adults to enjoy.
