SYNOPSIS
10 Cloverfield Lane. A woman tries to escape from a mysterious bunker in this edge-of-seat sci-fi thriller from JJ Abrams. After waking in a well-stocked basement, a young woman (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) finds that she’s in the care of a survivalist (John Goodman). He insists that a nuclear catastrophe has made the outside world unsafe and she must never attempt to leave. But is he telling the truth? Or is something far more sinister going on? Star Trek and Star Wars: The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams returns as producer for what he describes as a ‘blood relative’ of the 2008 hit Cloverfield. Remarkably, Abrams has managed to keep the project under wraps so as not to spoil any surprises. We do know, however, that there’s a third man (John Gallagher Jr) in the bunker. The director is Dan Trachtenberg, who made waves with his short film Portal: No Escape, and the screenplay is co-written by Oscar-nominated Whiplash writer/director Damien Chazelle.
