SYNOPSIS
Amelie is a shy young woman with a pronounced taste for all of Life’s small pleasures: immersing one’s hand in a sack of grain, cracking the crust of a crème brulée with the back of a teaspoon or skipping stones on the Canal Saint Martin. In the night of August 30th 1997, it suddenly hits her: she decides to straighten out other people’s lives. But who’s going to straighten out her life?
Of the story directed by Jean-Pierre (“THE CITY OF LOST CHILDREN”) Jeunet: “When Amelie discovers a tin box of boyhood treasures concealed in her bathroom wall, she decides to track down the now-grown owner and anonymously return the knickknacks. The result convinces her she can change lives with a few judicious tweaks to the environments of those around her.”
