SYNOPSIS
BLACK NATIVITY is a joyous Christmas musical, told through uplifting, soulful gospel sounds and featuring a stellar line-up of Academy Award® winning actors and R&B superstars. It’s the story of Langston (Jacob Latimore) – a streetwise teen from Baltimore, who journeys to New York City to spend Christmas with his estranged grandparents, Reverend Cornell Cobbs (Forest Whitaker) and his wife Aretha (Angela Bassett). Struggling to find his way in New York and to abide by his grandfather’s strict rules, Langston is determined to return home to his mother, Naima (Jennifer Hudson). But just as things seem to have hit rock bottom, Langston embarks on a surprising and inspirational journey and along with new friends and a little divine intervention, he discovers the true meaning of faith, healing and family.
Inspired by Langston Hughes’ celebrated play and written for the screen and directed by Kasi Lemmons BLACK NATIVITY also features Mary J. Blige, Tyrese Gibson and Nasir Jones.
