SYNOPSIS
Stu Miley is a mild-mannered cartoonist who has created a hit comic strip and animated TV show called ‘Monkeybone’. Now that he’s a success and about to marry the girl of his dreams, you’d think his life is perfect. That’s when Monkeybone takes over.Much more than just a mischievous cartoon character, Monkeybone is actually Stu’s alter ego. In fact, Monkeybone is everything Stu isn’t; lewd, lascivious, immoral, greedy and unethical.
Monkeybone’s outrageous efforts to hijack Stu’s mind, body and ultimately his life take place in a dream-like fantasy world called DOWNTOWN. This is the world of bizarre creatures that populate the unsuspecting cartoonist’s brain, and even Death is in hot pursuit. Can Stu, played by Brendan Fraser, reclaim his life? Can Julie, Stu’s faithful fiance, played by Bridget Fonda, bring him back to reality? Or, will Death, played by Academy Award winner Whoopi Goldberg, ultimately prevail? Naturally; it’s always a fight to the finish when a man’s Monkeybone is out of control.
