SYNOPSIS
The Secret Scripture. It focuses on Rose McNulty (Redgrave) who has spent half a century institutionalised and has developed a special connection with Dr. Grene (Bana), whose determination to discover her past and set her free drives the narrative. The story is embedded in the emergence of the Irish state in the 1940s, when both female sexuality and independence were unwelcome by both the church and politics.
