"a solid film from start to finish without too many issues"

Smart People was even better than expected. I'm a huge fan of Ellen Page since Hard Candy and of course Juno, but I also love Sarah Jessica Parker, so to see the two of them in a film together is wonderful!

It is important not to overlook the fact that two of Hollywood's best actors, with solid track records, Dennis Quaid and Thomas Haden Church are really the main attractions here. If you look at Quaid's film history, you will see a wide array of projects, ranging from Breaking Away and The Right Stuff to Far From Heaven and Traffic. He's not afraid to take risks as an actor, and his long career shows that he is able to withstand the ebbs and flows of an industry that can be fickle. Ellen Page is solid in yet another smartass role.

Thanks to an quality script by first timer Mark Poirier Smart People is a solid film from start to finish without too many issues. It connects best with intelligent individuals but may not resonate well with those looking for fluffier Hollywood flare. I'm certain it will be a pleasant surprise for everyone else as it was for me.
