SYNOPSIS
The Fever. The film is a moving portrayal of one man’s struggle to fit into today’s urban jungle which has already won great critical acclaim and a huge number of awards including Best Actor award and the Fipresci Prize at Locarno. It is set in Manaus, an industrial city surrounded by the Amazon rainforest. Justino, a native of the Desana tribe of indigenous peoples, works as a security guard at the cargo port. His main company is his youngest daughter with whom he lives in the outskirts of town. Confronted with the oppression of the city and the distance of his native village Justino finds himself condemned to an existence without a place. As days go by he is overcome with a strong fever, whilst during the night a mysterious creature follows his footsteps. Meanwhile, on television the news is of a wild animal lurking in the neighbourhood.
