‘Obsession’ Breakout Inde Navarrette Is Open To A Marvel Role – And Would Be The Perfect Mystique After Meeting With ‘X-Men’ Director

Inde Navarrette's career continues to gather momentum.

The Obsession breakout has revealed she's open to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as she continues meeting with some of Hollywood's biggest filmmakers following the success of Curry Barker's horror phenomenon, which has now surpassed $400 million at the global box office.

In a new interview with Nylon, the 25-year-old was asked whether she would consider starring in a Marvel film.

"I would," she replied.

According to the publication, Navarrette has already met with Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier, who is currently developing Marvel Studios' upcoming X-Men reboot.

She has also reportedly met with legendary filmmaker Michael Mann, who is assembling the cast for Heat 2, the long-awaited follow-up to his acclaimed 1995 crime thriller.

Speaking about filmmakers she hopes to work with in the future, Navarrette also named Sinners director Ryan Coogler and Barbie filmmaker Greta Gerwig among her dream collaborators.

While no Marvel role has been confirmed, it's certainly fun to speculate.

For us, Navarrette would make a fascinating choice for Mystique.

Her performance as Sarah Cushing in Superman & Lois demonstrated that she can convey emotional conflict, vulnerability and dramatic tension without relying on spectacle. That's exactly the quality that has made Mystique one of the X-Men's most compelling and morally complex characters over the years.

Beyond the action, Mystique's story has always been rooted in identity, belonging and fractured family relationships—particularly her connection to Nightcrawler—while her shape-shifting abilities also lend themselves to the kind of unsettling body horror that the character has rarely been allowed to fully explore on screen.

Another intriguing possibility would be Rogue, but Mystique feels like the more natural fit.

Before any potential Marvel adventure, however, Navarrette's next project is already complete.

She stars in Invertigo, the upcoming survival thriller from director Matthias Hoene, which follows a group of reckless teenagers who persuade a young amusement park worker to sneak them onto a rollercoaster before its official opening. When a catastrophic system failure leaves them stranded hundreds of feet in the air, buried trauma and long-held tensions begin to surface as they fight to survive.

As for Obsession 2, Barker recently revealed he already has "a really cool idea" for a sequel, although Navarrette appears equally enthusiastic about the possibility of leaving the story as a standalone film.

"I think the beautiful thing about it is that there is no sequel," she explained. "I think it'd be cool if Curry did the anthology series that he was talking about, where each is a different wish."

Navarrette has previously said she would "absolutely" return for a sequel, but also loves the idea of allowing the original film to stand on its own.

"It's like a memory. Whenever you look back to yourself at like 24, 23, 22, those are all chunks, and they begin and end at a certain point. I think that's kind of like this story."

For now, however, the actress is embracing every opportunity that comes her way.

"I don't care how much I'm not sleeping, because I don't know if I'll get this opportunity again," she said. "I really want to prove that Obsession wasn't just lightning in a bottle."

Whether her next destination is the MCU, Michael Mann's crime saga or another entirely unexpected project, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: Inde Navarrette is an actress determined to ensure Obsession is remembered as the beginning of something much bigger rather than a one-off success.
